ADVERTISEMENTS

Declared as one of the national treasures of the Philippines by President Marcos, the Paoay Church also known as St. Augustine Church was built on 1704 to 1894. The church was made of coral blocks, tree sap, stucco-plastered bricks and lumber to withstand the earthquake with is common to the north. The church served as a lookout for the katipunero’s on 1896 revolution.

When I went to Ilocos, Our first Destination was in Paoay church. Looking at the church made me think that I was in the Spanish Era. The church seems so concrete and beautiful. I am very glad that people from Ilocos preserves the natural beauty of the Church. This made me say " I am very proud I am a Filipino"
